Vol 5 – Chapter 87 (20)

Back in her room, Xia Sihan threw herself onto the bed and cried for a long time—or at least that’s what the camera captured. In reality, the moment her face was buried beneath the thick comforter, a twisted, grimacing expression emerged. Her shoulders kept trembling just enough to give the illusion of nonstop sobbing for the footage.

She was seething with rage toward Yu Mo.

Was this guy even a man? What happened to all that supposed gentlemanly grace? Had a dog eaten it? She’d actually thought he seemed refined and classy at first—but turns out he was just another cold, heartless bastard.

She’d been blind. Everyone had.

But what burned the most was knowing Yu Mo had a soft spot for Mu Fu. That woman was nowhere near her league! And yet, Yu Mo was into her. Not Xia Sihan. The bitterness curdled in her stomach.

If she couldn’t have him, then no one else should either. Especially not after how heartlessly he’d treated her. He wanted to be with Mu Fu? Over her dead body.

And so, the next act began.

She would get her revenge—on both Yu Mo and Mu Fu.

With Feng Ningran present at the scene now, her plan would be even easier to pull off.

Through her tears, she spoke in a low, pitiful voice, “Mu Fu, Yu Mo seems to really have something against me. You’re close with him… could you help me out? I don’t know who else to turn to right now.”

Inwardly, she sneered. Blame yourself, Mu Fu—shouldn’t have gotten so close to him.

Mu Fu looked at her, then at Feng Ningran, and replied earnestly, “Sihan, I think you might be misunderstanding Yu Mo. He’s not like that.”

She genuinely thought Yu Mo was easy to get along with—quiet, hard-working, straightforward. A good guy. She didn’t believe he would go out of his way to target Xia Sihan.

“No… you don’t understand. He… he…” Xia Sihan’s voice broke again as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. It was a heart-wrenching performance, and her fragmented words left just enough ambiguity to make it look like Yu Mo had really wronged her.

Feng Ningran’s fiery temper instantly flared. “Stop crying. What did Yu Mo do to you? Did he hurt you?”

Inside, Xia Sihan grinned. That was exactly the line she’d been waiting for.

But on the outside, she just shook her head miserably, tears brimming in her eyes. “No… he didn’t… it’s probably all my fault. Mu Fu, please, I’m begging you—talk to him for me. The way he treats me… it really hurts.”

And just like that, she dumped the entire blame onto Yu Mo’s shoulders—without ever actually saying the words.

Mu Fu frowned slightly. She didn’t believe Yu Mo had truly done anything wrong. But Xia Sihan’s expression was so full of sorrow, it was hard to dismiss. And now that she was standing right there, pleading for help… if Mu Fu didn’t do something, the audience would surely label her cold and unfeeling.

Mu Fu gently consoled her, “Sihan, don’t cry. Wipe your tears first.”

Feng Ningran quickly ran back to the room and returned with a pack of tissues, but she still didn’t invite Xia Sihan inside. Mu Fu didn’t mention it either.

Xia Sihan took the tissues without moving. Looking at Mu Fu, she said softly, “Mu Fu, I’m sorry. I put you on the spot earlier. You two just met—it’s not fair of me to ask you to help. I understand. Even if you don’t help me, I won’t blame you.”

Those words put Mu Fu in a tough spot no matter how she responded. Whether or not she went to speak to Yu Mo on Xia Sihan’s behalf, the audience would only see her as cold, unfeeling, and selfish.

Perfect. Let those two people with tarnished reputations stick together.

Xia Sihan was confident that once the show aired, both Mu Fu and Yu Mo would be “famous” in all the wrong ways.

She had good reason to believe that—after all, she had another identity: a popular influencer with over five million followers on Weibo. She came with her own built-in fanbase and idol aura.

If Mu Fu and Yu Mo didn’t get dragged through the mud online, she’d eat her hat.

Mu Fu blinked, then suddenly grabbed Xia Sihan’s wrist. “Sihan, how could you think that way? Even though I don’t believe Yu Mo would do something like that, I also believe you wouldn’t lie. If he hurt you, then he needs to apologize. Let’s go talk to him—right now.”

She was genuinely curious—what exactly had Yu Mo done to wrong Xia Sihan?

Still, Xia Sihan’s behavior was strange. She had suddenly pulled Mu Fu aside, asked her to stand up for her, and even said things that would stir up controversy.

Was she trying to ruin her reputation?

Whether she was or not, Mu Fu wasn’t about to give her that chance. Not on camera. She was ready to counter any move.

Xia Sihan was caught off guard. Since when had Mu Fu become so sharp? Back when Feng Ningran was pushing her around, she hadn’t said a word in protest. But now she looked like a completely different person—confident, steady, and no longer timid.

More importantly, Mu Fu absolutely couldn’t go bring Yu Mo here to confront her.

Sure, what he said had been harsh—but that was it. He hadn’t done anything truly outrageous. If they confronted him and it turned out to be nothing, she’d come off as dramatic and petty. That would ruin everything.

She tried to pull her wrist away—but couldn’t.

Damn it, how was this woman so strong?! No way could she let Yu Mo show up and confront her.

“Mu Fu,” she said quickly, “thank you. But I really don’t want to see him right now. Just thinking about the things he said and did makes me upset. I’m sorry. Pretend I never came to you, okay? I’m just… tired. I’m going back to rest.”

With that, she walked away looking thoroughly wronged.

Mu Fu and Feng Ningran looked at each other in silence.

Then Feng Ningran pointed toward the room and asked, “Do you think Yu Mo actually did something to her?”

Mu Fu found Feng Ningran’s little gesture unexpectedly cute.

“I don’t think so,” she said thoughtfully. “Yu Mo doesn’t seem like the type to stir up trouble. He might’ve said something that came off a bit harsh, though.”

After all, the way Xia Sihan had backed down the moment she mentioned confronting Yu Mo suggested her earlier accusations had been exaggerated, if not completely false.

Feng Ningran blinked. “So… what was she even asking for? Did she want you to yell at him for her?”

Mu Fu chuckled. “Maybe. But yelling’s not really my thing.”

And just like that, the whole incident seemed to pass. Xia Sihan didn’t try to approach Mu Fu again, nor did she attempt to cozy up to Yu Mo.

Both Mu Fu and Yu Mo were perfectly fine with that.

Still, Mu Fu felt she needed to ask Yu Mo about what really happened.

That evening, once the rest of the villa crew had returned, Feng Ningran was called away by Rong Yongxin. With nothing better to do, Mu Fu made her way over to Yu Mo to bring up the earlier incident.

When she found him, he glanced at her slightly serious expression and asked, “Are you talking about Xia Sihan? Yeah, a female guest came up to me earlier saying all sorts of strange things.”

Mu Fu leaned in, curious. “What did she say?”

“She came to apologize,” he replied flatly. “Said sorry and asked me not to treat her like that again. Said she couldn’t take it.”

Mu Fu blinked. “…Huh?” That made no sense.

Yu Mo sighed. “Don’t look at me. I didn’t get it either. You’d better stay away from her—something’s not quite right with that woman.”

Mu Fu nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly. “So what did you say back?”

“I told her to go to sleep.”

Mu Fu burst out laughing. “Sorry—your deadpan reply was kind of perfect.”

Neither of them realized Xia Sihan had been trying to seduce Yu Mo. Unfortunately for her, he hadn’t even looked twice.

That evening, it was Feng Ningran and Rong Yongxin’s turn to cook.

When Mu Fu and Yu Mo stepped into the kitchen, they noticed the two were getting along surprisingly well again.

Sure enough, at dinner, Rong Yongxin sat beside Feng Ningran and doted on her throughout the meal.

Looking around, Mu Fu noticed something. “Where’s Sihan? She’s not coming down?”

Wu Qingyi said, “She mentioned she’s not feeling well, so she’s skipping dinner. Told us to go ahead without her.”

Mu Fu frowned slightly. “That’s not good. She’ll be starving if she doesn’t eat something.”

She had a hunch that Xia Sihan was avoiding dinner because she felt guilty. If she ran into Feng Ningran and that confrontation with Yu Mo came up… well, her little performance might be exposed.

Mu Fu shot a discreet glance at Yu Mo. Luckily, this man treated every other woman with the same cool indifference. Being with someone like him meant never having to worry about unclear boundaries.

Before Wu Qingyi could respond, Ding Binbing—who had been quietly getting ready to eat—stood up and said, “I’ll bring Sihan something to eat.”

Mu Fu gave him a meaningful look. “Thanks. That’s very kind of you.”

With the polite gestures done, she stopped paying attention to anything involving Xia Sihan.

Xu Kangning, meanwhile, was much quieter than usual tonight. But Mu Fu didn’t bother trying to figure out why. She had no interest in him, especially not after he badmouthed Yu Mo.

Wu Qingyi, glancing around the table, looked uneasy. Something had definitely gone down today while she was away. Being at work really made her feel out of the loop.

Fortunately, the weekend was almost here—and with it, the first round of one-on-one dates.

She cast a glance at Ding Binbing, who was now carefully adding food to Xia Sihan’s bowl. Her eyes flickered.

When had those two gotten close again? Did she still have a chance?

Wu Qingyi suddenly felt drained.

She had come on this show hoping to rekindle things with Yu Mo. But on the first day, she hadn’t even received a single heart-fluttering message from him. It was disappointing—clear proof that he’d sent his to someone else. Yu Mo obviously wasn’t looking to reconnect. Throughout their time here, he’d treated her like a stranger.

Worse, his behavior toward Mu Fu was unmistakably different. There was real warmth there.

So Wu Qingyi figured she’d try other options. She’d made plans to go running with Rong Yongxin today, and things had started to warm up… until Feng Ningran jumped back into the picture.

Just last night, she’d started feeling something for Ding Binbing, and it seemed like he might feel the same. But tonight, watching him tend to Xia Sihan so thoughtfully at dinner—it stung.

Now, she’d interacted with all three male guests. But none of them felt promising anymore. Only Xu Kangning was left.

She glanced toward him. He seemed off tonight, unusually quiet. Was it his ex messing with his head? Was it… Mu Fu?

As if sensing her stare, Mu Fu looked up and met her eyes. Wu Qingyi quickly turned away.

She sighed silently. Maybe she just wasn’t cut out for this kind of show.

After dinner, a few people lingered in the living room. Mu Fu didn’t. She returned to her room, not expecting to find Feng Ningran already there.

“Mu Fu!” Feng Ningran beamed. “Check out this bag I just bought. Isn’t it cute?”

Mu Fu looked it over. “Very cute. Is it from Aulai’s new line?” She worked in fashion and had a good eye for new releases.
