Yu Mo was moving so slowly it was driving Mu Fu crazy.
She’d given him so many chances! Like that time in the hot spring, she’d practically thrown herself at him. And what did he do? Just held her. Nothing else. She was so frustrated, she almost cried.
But now… the vibe was just right.
They had just made up after a fight, and the air between them felt warm and soft. It was the perfect moment for their feelings to get deeper. Plus, he was a little tipsy. If she didn’t make a move now, when would she?
She wasn’t going to wait anymore. Their feelings for each other were obvious and real. And from what she could tell, Yu Mo was even more into her than she was into him. There was no need to worry about what would happen after the show ended.
She didn’t want a relationship that was just emotional anymore.
She wanted a physical one. Body to body, heart to heart.
“A-Fu…”
His voice was low, husky—so incredibly sexy it sent shivers down her spine.
One of his big hands, which had been around her waist, slid up, his fingers gently moving across her back.
Her cheeks turned bright red. Every spot his hand touched felt weak and tingly. She bit her lip hard just to keep from making a sound.
Yu Mo was teasing her, like a predator playing with its prey before the final strike.
His eyes locked onto her lips—red and inviting—and then he suddenly took them, sucking greedily, hungrily. His tongue slipped between her lips, boldly exploring, tasting, overwhelming her.
The kiss got deeper, rougher, more intense with every second.
Mu Fu could barely breathe under his storm of kisses. His hand stayed firm at her waist, holding her close, not letting her go.
With her hand finally free, she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave in to the kiss. She closed her eyes, letting him kiss her as hard as he wanted.
A soft, trembling moan escaped her lips—like a tiny, helpless kitten.
And the softer she became, the more Yu Mo’s darker side seemed to spiral out of control. His eyes became shadowed and fierce. If the situation were even a little different, he wouldn’t let her get away—not now, not ever.
He kissed her harder, as if trying to consume her whole, to completely devour her.
She winced. “It hurts…”
Her soft, breathy voice seemed to snap something inside him. His eyes darkened with a red glow.
Then he tasted a faint hint of iron.
Realizing he’d gone too far, Yu Mo finally let go of her lips. He gently cupped her cheek with a large hand, the intense look in his eyes now softened with affection.
Her lips were swollen, red, and glistening. Her dazed eyes blinked slowly, still lost in the haze of what had just happened—like a lamb too innocent to understand the danger it had faced.
Yu Mo’s gaze deepened again. He lowered his head and kissed her once more—this time soft, almost gentle, careful of her bruised lips.
When he finally pulled away, the joy in his expression was clear. They had crossed another line. They had grown even closer. Now, there was something real between them—something clearly intimate.
With one arm holding her close, Yu Mo used his other hand to gently play with her delicate, pale fingers.
They were both quietly enjoying the sweet moment.
After a bit, Mu Fu, who’d been completely charmed by Yu Mo earlier, suddenly realized she hadn’t even asked about his date today. So, she just casually brought it up.
“So… what did you two actually do today?”
“Nothing much,” Yu Mo replied, his voice calm. “We went to our old university. Walked around nearby. That’s all.”
Mu Fu immediately turned to face him, her eyes narrowing.
“Then why did Wu Qingyi come back with red eyes?”
She really looked at him, trying to read his expression.
“Oh, that…” Yu Mo quickly said, sensing trouble. “On the way back, she started talking about old memories. I didn’t bring it up. I don’t miss the past, don’t want to go back there, and definitely don’t want to start anything again.”
His words spilled out fast, his instincts kicking in. He went on, “When I made it clear she didn’t have a chance, she started crying. I tried to comfort her, but nothing worked.”
Yu Mo sounded frustrated, like he’d been painted as the bad guy when all he did was turn her down.
That answer finally calmed Mu Fu down.
“I don’t care what you two had going on before,” she said, though a hint of annoyance still lingered in her voice. “But from now on, keep your distance from her. I don’t want to see you hugging her again.”
Yu Mo nodded quickly. “Got it. It won’t happen again. From now on, I’ll make sure there’s always at least a meter between us.”
Mu Fu couldn’t help but remember that in her past life, Wu Qingyi never gave up on Yu Mo. Just thinking about it made her uneasy. She warned, “Even if the show sets you two up for another date, keep your distance, okay?”
Yu Mo could hear the worry in her voice—clearly, what happened earlier had made her feel a bit insecure.
He gently stroked her head and murmured, “Okay.”
As long as it made Mu Fu feel safe, he didn’t care if the audience later said he was rude to Wu Qingyi. There was just no comparison between the two women.
A few minutes later, footsteps echoed from outside the door. It was probably one of the other guys coming back. But since no one knocked on Yu Mo’s door, it seemed they were heading next door.
Mu Fu whispered, “I should go. If Ding Binbing comes back and sees me here, it’ll be bad.”
Yu Mo completely ignored her words. So what if someone saw? He didn’t want to let her go.
Mu Fu gently patted his hand. “We can hang out tomorrow.”
Yu Mo’s eyes showed his reluctance before he finally let her go, even though he didn’t want to. He watched her with obvious longing.
As soon as Mu Fu left his arms, Yu Mo felt the warmth fade from his chest, leaving a hollow, chilly feeling. He stood there, watching her walk away with deep affection, not wanting her to leave.
Luckily, Mu Fu made it back to her room without running into anyone.
Feng Ningran wasn’t back yet. Mu Fu figured she was still probably downstairs somewhere.
It wasn’t until almost 10 p.m. that the other three female contestants gathered in the shared lounge of the girls’ dorm.
Mu Fu subtly glanced at Wu Qingyi. She was sitting on the floor with her knees pulled up, leaning her back against the sofa, her head bowed low.
Mu Fu couldn’t quite figure her out. There was a perfectly good, soft couch right behind her, but she chose to sit on the hard floor instead.
She also noticed that Wu Qingyi looked even more drunk than before. Her cheeks were flushed, and her face was a little damp. Strands of hair stuck to the sides of her face—it was clear she’d just washed up before coming upstairs.
The other two women seemed to be in better shape; at least they were still somewhat clear-headed.
Soon, the production team announced it was time to send out the “heartbeat texts.”
As usual, Mu Fu sent hers to Yu Mo: [I’m looking forward to exploring more places with you.]
A little while later, she got three texts back:
[How lucky I am to have met you here.]
[I hope I’m the one you go on your next date with.]
[Your ex has chosen you.]
Mu Fu raised an eyebrow. The first one was clearly from Yu Mo. The second had to be from Xu Kangning.
Next date? No way—she wouldn’t be asking him out.
She turned to the system silently: [System, tell me what the others wrote in their heartbeat messages—especially Wu Qingyi.]
[On it, Host.]
[Wu Qingyi sent to Yu Mo: The biggest mistake I ever made was breaking up with you.]
Mu Fu’s eyes narrowed slightly. So Wu Qingyi wasn’t quite over Yu Mo yet. Looks like she’d have to give him a little extra push. She didn’t mind showing off their relationship in front of others.
Honestly, Wu Qingyi was a decent person—kind and respectful to everyone in the villa. Mu Fu didn’t want to hurt her. She just hoped Wu Qingyi would choose to give up on her own. But as for Yu Mo, Mu Fu had no intention of letting go.
If Yu Mo were interested in Wu Qingyi, that would be a different story. She’d either compete fairly or back off. But Yu Mo liked her. So giving up simply wasn’t an option.
The system continued its report: [Feng Ningran sent hers to Xu Kangning. Xia Sihan to Ding Binbing. Yu Mo and Xu Kangning both sent to you. Rong Yongxin sent his to Xia Sihan. Ding Binbing sent his to Wu Qingyi.]
[Oh?] Mu Fu arched a brow. [Ding Binbing suddenly sent one to Wu Qingyi? What did he say?]
[Everything that hurts will pass. Want to go for a morning run together tomorrow?]
Now, this was getting interesting—Ding Binbing had actually given up on Xia Sihan and was now hinting at Wu Qingyi instead.
Mu Fu felt a bit of regret that she hadn’t fully caught all the drama as it happened. Unfortunately, the system didn’t have an all-seeing “surveillance mode”—at least not one that could run without using up a lot of her energy. And honestly, in a world as peaceful as this one, Mu Fu didn’t see the need to keep tabs on everyone all the time.
As it turned out, Ding Binbing’s change of heart came after he found out that Xia Sihan had secretly gone on a date with Xu Kangning today. Rong Yongxin had noticed it too.
Wu Qingyi, while tipsy, had tearfully spilled everything to Xia Sihan, and Feng Ningran had been right there to hear it.
It was so awkward that Xia Sihan and Feng Ningran looked like they wanted to disappear into the floor. But since Wu Qingyi was drunk, they couldn’t really hold it against her.
So tonight, both Ding Binbing and Rong Yongxin changed who they voted for.
Not long after, everyone received their “heartbeat messages” from the opposite sex.
Mu Fu noticed that aside from Feng Ningran, who looked really upset about not getting a message, the other two women didn’t look too great either.
Xia Sihan had a nagging feeling that Ding Binbing would be mad about her secret date with Xu Kangning and might not vote for her tonight. But when it actually happened, it still stung more than she expected. She couldn’t even fake a calm expression.
She found herself wondering who Ding Binbing did message.
One of the texts read: [I thought of you today when I passed by the Qinghai Theater.]
That place… besides Ding Binbing, only Rong Yongxin knew she’d mentioned it. That meant it had to be from him.
So, not only did her ex not vote for her—even Xu Kangning, who she had just gone on a date with, didn’t vote for her either.
She figured he must’ve sent his message to the other girl he dated today—Feng Ningran.
Xia Sihan frowned. Her plan to win over Xu Kangning wasn’t going at all as she’d imagined. He treated her the same as he did every other girl—warm, polite, but distant. Was it possible her carefully crafted persona just wasn’t his type?
It made sense. With Xu Kangning, she played up her outgoing, elegant charm—much brighter and livelier than the quiet “little woman” she acted like around Ding Binbing.
She had already put in so much effort. How could she let all of that go to waste?
She began replaying the day in her head, wondering where things had gone wrong—what exactly had pushed Xu Kangning to vote for Feng Ningran instead.
As for Ding Binbing’s change of heart, it bothered her a little, but she wasn’t too worried. She figured he was just upset about her secret meeting and sent the message to someone else out of spite. Tomorrow, she’d sweet-talk him back—and she was sure he’d send the message to her again.
Meanwhile, Feng Ningran, who didn’t receive a message either, assumed Xu Kangning had chosen the other girl he’d gone on a date with.
